The station plant comprises four Avon powered gas turbine generating sets which are four standby duties and emergency start up following loss of grid and reactor trip conditions.
Each set is rated at 12.5MW at 90 deg. F AND 15.6 MW at –20 deg. F. The set may be started operated and shut down from local or remote control rooms.
The sets are identical and separately housed in acoustic enclosures. A set comprises the following major items:

Avon gas generator, supplied by Rolls-Royce Limited.

EASI power turbine, supplied by GEC Gas Turbines Limited.

Main gearbox, supplied by Modern wheel Drive Limited

A.C generator and exciter. Supplied by GEC Turbine Generators Limited.

Fuel supply system comprising a fuel Transfer package and piping to the Avon fuel system.

Lubrication system comprising a gas generator external oil system and a power turbine, gearbox and A.C generator oil system

Electrical and fuel control systems.
