Fire clay is a range of refractory clays used in the manufacture of ceramics, especially fire brick,
PropertiesHigh-grade fire clays can withstand temperatures of 1,775 C (3,227 F), but to be referred to as a "fire clay" the material must withstand a minimum temperature of 1,515 C (2,759 F).[2] Fire clays range from flint clays to plastic fire clays, but there are semi-flint and semi-plastic fire clays as well. Fire clays consist of natural argillaceous materials, mostly Kaolinite group clays, along with fine-grained micas and quartz, and may also contain organic matter and sulphur compounds.
Fire clay is resistant to high temperatures, having fusion points higher than 1,600 C (2,910 F); therefore it is suitable for lining furnaces, as fire brick, and for manufacture of utensils used in the metalworking industries, such as crucibles, saggars, retorts and glassware. Because of its stability during firing in the kiln, it can be used to make complex items of pottery such as pipes and sanitary ware.
We offer high quality Crude China Clay in the market. Like all clays, Kaolin or Crude China Clay is basically a hydrated aluminum silicate, plastic when wet and permanently hard when fired. "Clay" refers to a physical condition not to chemical composition. This varies with different types of clay. Huge mechanical shovels drag lines, tractors and graders ship the overburden of earth from the clay, then take out the crude clay itself for removal to the processing plant. There it is dumped directly or carried by conveyor into dry storage sheds. According to the moisture content, it may feel almost dry to the touch, soapy, or slick as mud.
Applications : Wall Tiles Body, Pierced Body, Fire Bridge, Floor Tiles, Pottery, etc. With our state of art manufacturing unit we are capable of providing customized processed China clay to customers specification in quality and delivery schedules they want.
Ball Clay is a variety of Kaolinite, like china-clay. It differs from china-clay in having high plasticity and less refractoriness. In chemical composition, ball and china clays do not differ greatly except that the former contains a larger proportion of silica. It has derived its name from the practice of removing it in the form of ball-like lumps from the clay pits in the UK.
Ball clays are kaolinitic sedimentary clays that commonly consist of 20-80% kaolinite, 10-25% mica, 6-65% quartz. Localized seams in the same deposit have variations in composition, including the quantity of the major minerals, accessory minerals and carbonaceous materials such as lignite. They are fine-grained and plastic in nature, and, unlike most earthenware clays, produce a fine quality white-coloured pottery body when fired, which is the key to their popularity with potters. Ball clays are relatively scarce deposits due to the combination of geological factors needed for their formation and preservation.
Buy Clay from Expert Suppliers
* Shree Trading and Services are the Eminent Clay Suppliers with experience in procuring the best quality Clays, which has a unique combination of materials to shape and mold in different ways.
* With our enormous industry research-based experience, technicalities, and specifications, we have become experts in selecting the most suitable form of Clays that has a wide range of uses that meets the customer's priorities and projects.
* Depending upon the soil contents, Clays are available in a comprehensive range of colors from white to dull grey or brown to deep orange-red. There are several varieties of clays but are similar due to plasticity when it contains moist contents, strong and hard if it is dried to high temperature.
* The Two different types of clay that Shree Trading & Services offers based on the properties required for various applications are:
Ball Clay
Kaolin Clay
Ball Clay
* Ball clays are kaolinite rich secondary clay which is available in dark brown to black color due to relatively high organic impurity content.
* It is a high plastic clay and contains more fine particles. It is also known as PLASTIC CLAY.
Ball clays are characterized by higher plasticity, dry shrinkage and dry strength as compared to China clays.
Main features include high plasticity due to fine particles which give high green strength for handling the product at the green stage. Requires much more deflocculant to get required fluidity compared to china clay because of fine particles and organic impurities. High Green MOR compared to china clay due to more fine particles. Fired shrinkage is comparatively more due to high loss on ignition and particle size distribution
Applications
Since Clay has the feature of the permanent physical and chemical phenomenon, and it is widely used in various industries to manufacture numerous products. Clay is also a key ingredient material for building techniques, which is utilized for construction purposes.
Some of the known uses of Clay includes:
Used as a raw material in sanitary ware production.
Ceramic building material
Used as a Raw material in Refractory Production
Pottery making (both utilitarian and decorative)

China clay is also called "kaoline", it is one of the essential raw material for ceramic industries, china clay does not swell on adding water & alumina present in clay do not form isomorphous series with any other metallic compound. China clay is a naturally hydrated aluminum silicate. It is one of the most abundantly available clay in the earth's crust. A large variety of china clay is mined all over india.
Application: potteries, tiles, ceramics, paint, paper & plastics.
Kaolinite is the most abundant clay mineral, and is used for pottery and ceramics. It is also very important in the production of paper, and is used in pharmaceuticals as an ingredient in some medications such as stomach soothers.
China clay is also known as white clay. Primary clay formed by natural kaolinisation process. China Clay is naturally occurring hydrated Aluminium Silicate.
It is formed by decomposition of some part of feldspar mineral.White in color , Used in ceramic slip casting process, Pressing processes and forming process as a body former and filler. It mainly has oil absorbing properties, reduced shine and translucent properties.
It also provides hiding effect and reduces the usage of TiO2 to a great extent.
