Coir Geo-textile is an eco-friendly product made from coconut coir, widely used for soil bio-engineering and slope stabilization programs.
Coir geotextile possesses the mechanical strength essential to hold soil in position and stop erosion. The nettings split up the runoff and dispel the power of flowing water. Coir also encourages the establishment of recent plant life by absorbing water and stopping becoming dry from the top soil and seed products.
Coir geotextile can be categorized as machine-made or hand-made in various weights of the net.

Coco discs are pressed discs of carefully selected coco peat. They are suitable for gerbera cultivation, as well as for other floriculture crops and potted plants. Coco discs consist of coarse coco material, which is made of the husk of the coconut. Cutting the husk creates an airy, easily manageable and powerful growing medium with good drainage properties. These discs are compressed for transport and expand to their original size after water is added.
* very resistant to uv degradation as compared to
Synthetic mats
* ability to handle high water velocities. - high water
Absorption capacity of coir fiber promote seed germination
* excellent results in hydro seeding - will decompose after a period of time leaving excellent mulch for the growing vegetation
* cost effective compared to synthetic mats
Depending on its application and exposure, coco mat lasts upto five years. This extended longevity period allows enough time to establish adequate vegetation allowing erosion control the way nature intended.
Coco geotextile mats are available in standard sizes of:
Grade,Width,Length,Warp/weft,Mesh size
400 g/sm,2m,50m,28/20,4x4cm
700 g/sm,2m,50m,40/30,2x2cm
900 g/sm,2m,50m,48/36,1.5x1.5cm
Sri Lanka is renowned for the production of brown coir fibre. We at Tropical Green produce mixed fibre with physical properties such as length, colour and texture.
The Fiber extracted from the 'Mesocarp' or the outer layer of the coconut, coir Fiber is the longest natural Fiber as well as the strongest in terms of twist resistance. Sri Lanka has a history of using coconut Fiber to manufacture a wide range of products for home, agriculture and industrial purposes.
The Sri Lankan coconut coir and coir-based product manufacturers have been a major cottage industry in Sri Lanka for centuries. The unique technique is known as the drum system is used to extract Fiber, producing long pure Fiber, mostly suitable for the brush industry. It falls into two main categories; brown and white Fiber, which contributes to 80% and 20% respectively of the world coir Fiber demand.
Today the coconut coir product industry includes large corporations as well as SMEs producing a range of agricultural, household, and industrial products for the global market.
