What is the service life of the chlorinated marine paint for rubber?
Antifouling paints have been the most effective and also a widely employed method for preventing fouling of underwater portion of ships. These paints are applied over anticorrosive coatings to remain in contact with seawater. The antifouling paints contain toxic material(s) which are constantly released from the surface of the film into the seawater at a controlled rate inhibiting the growth of fouling organisms. Chlorinated rubber paint formulations utilize cuprous oxide as the main toxic agent. It prevents fouling for periods of about 15-18 months even in Indian waters where fouling is more intense and occurs throughout the year.
