The conch shell which is opened on right side is called dakshinavarti sangu or lakshmi sangu. Lord lakshmi and lord narayana carry this sangu in hand. As the mouth is opened in right its called as valammuri (valam is right in tamil). Latter it came to be pronouned as valampuri. This sangu is very rare and highly auspicious and found in only 1 in 1 million of edampuri (left opening shank). This sangu is used for bathing (abisaham) god statue in saligram and kept for pooja. All geniuine valampuri shankh are holy items associated with goddess lakshmi. This is also kept at home for business prosperity and to give good wealth.
The price of this shank is based on size and quality. The lesser the size and pure quality the price is more. Pure qualtiy means without any hole or damage on the body which can be understood by seeing.
