Iron oxide powders are used as catalysts, pigments, and iron ores. They occur in hemoglobin and are also used in thermite. They are durable, inexpensive pigments in colored concretes, coatings, and in paints. Iron oxide is the chemical compound with formula Fe3O4. It occurs in nature as the mineral magnetite. It is one of a number of iron oxides, the others being iron(II) oxide (FeO), which is rare, and iron oxide (Fe2O3) also known as hematite. This makes it a very essential mineral in our day-to-day life.
5. Properties: red to reddish brown powder. Odorless. Insoluble in water, organic acids and organic solvents. Soluble in inorganic acids. There are ±-type (positive magnetic) and ³-type (diamagnetic) two types. The products produced by the dry method generally have a fineness of less than 1 m. Stable to light, heat and air. It is stable to acid and alkali. Strong tinting strength.
6. Uses: used in magnetic materials, polishing and abrasive materials, coatings and ink industries, etc.
Seven, packaging: lined with polyethylene plastic bags, outer plastic woven bags, 25Kg per bag.
8. Storage and transportation: It should be stored in a dry, ventilated and clean warehouse, lightly packed to prevent moisture and heat, and rain and moisture during transportation
