It is formed in high percentage by water and mineral salts absorbed by the soil through the roots of the tree with which it enters into symbiosis: there's a special relationship between some types of tree and the fungus, in which the first nourishes and protects the second, creating the perfect habitat for its growth.

Gowning in gaoligongshan mountains (a famous tourist attraction in yunnan province), it look like tuber melanosporum (truffle grows in france) very much. For example, when you cut by a knife, the cuttings will preset a black mixed with light purple color, and you can also find the fine grain clearly. This is due to the unique geology in this mountain. The alkal soil there is similar as that in france. Compared with those (tuber indicum) growing in acid soil in lowland, the out color is darker with much more wonderful smell. However, the tuber melanosporum is even better.
