It is semi-transparent and varies in color from yellow to black. At room temperature rosin is brittle, but it melts at stove-top temperatures. It chiefly consists of different resin acids. Gum rosin is a natural organic compound, a yellowish solid vitreous product. It resulting from the distilation of crude gum (oleo pine resin)most of them are from Pinus merkusii. Gum Rosin is not soluble in water but it can easily dissolved in many organic solvents.
Gum Rosin is mainly a mixture of resin acids that are monocarboxyclic diterpene acids. The composition varies according to species and geographical origin of the pine.
Suitable for paper making, coating, printing ink, rubber, soap, electronics, edible ester gum, rosin ester resin and other important industrial raw materials.

Rosin is obtained by cutting resin juice directly from the trunk of pine trees.A 13cm cut was made in the trunk of the grown pine tree to collect the colorless and fragrant viscous liquid that flowed from the tree. The liquid was distilled by steam vacuum. The distillate was turpentine, and the residue in the kettle was rosin.Rosin is characterized by light color, high acid value, high softening point, used for making washing soap, metal soap, varnish, ink, welding materials, insulating materials.
