Ethoxylated hydrogenated castor oil (PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil) is a combination of synthetic polyethylene glycol (PEG) with natural castor oil. Ethoxylated hydrogenated castor oil can be used to emulsify and solubilize oil-in-water (o/w) emulsions.
Application:
Hydrogenated castor oil plays the role of thickening, hardening and sustained release in preparations, so it is used as a thickener, hardener and sustained release agent for the preparation of semi-solid preparations and solid preparations, such as ointments, suppositories, pills, tablets, etc. In ointments, creams and suppositories, it is mainly used as a hardener of the paste to adjust the consistency of the preparation; in oral preparations, it is mainly used to prepare sustained-release tablets and capsules, and can be used as a coating film or to form a solid skeleton to play a role in sustained or controlled release; it can also be used as a lubricant for tablets and capsules to improve the fluidity of particles.
