Pressure-treated lumber is wood that has undergone a process of chemical treatment to enhance its durability and resistance to decay, insects, and other environmental factors. This treatment process involves placing the lumber in a pressure chamber and forcing preservative chemicals into the wood fibers. The most common preservative used in this process is chromated copper arsenate (CCA), but there are other alternatives like alkaline copper quaternary (ACQ) or copper azole.
