Offshore Mooring Chain is used as an important safety anchoring facility on ocean development facilities such as offshore drilling, oil production and mining etc.
They are mainly used for offshore oil platform, offshore oil storage ship, offshore buoys and other other ocean development activities.
There are generally 5 grades of steel for offshore mooring chain: R3, R3S, R4, R4S, R5. R3 and R3S grade mooring chains are most often used for the marine continental shelf development facilities. While, the R4 grade mooring chains are used for deep-sea development facilities.
TUF mooring chains are approved by RINA, CCS, ABS, NK, LR, DNV, GL, BV, KR, RS, IRS and etc.

10.Difference between Stud link chain and studless chain:
Originally studs were added to the chain to stiffen the links preventing them from severely deforming when overloaded. They have
the added advantage in that they prevent the chain from knotting up when twisted, thus avoiding problems when chain is retrieved
with a windlass.
