The durian is the edible fruit of several tree species belonging to the genus Durio. There are 30 recognised Durio species, at least nine of which produce edible fruit. Durio zibethinus, native to Borneo and Sumatra, is the only species available in the international market.

Durian lovers say it has a sweet, custardy taste, with the texture of creamy cheesecake. Flavors often attributed to the durian fruits are caramel and vanilla. Some fruits have a slightly bitter note, together with some sweetness.

You could call it the most loved and the most hated fruit on earth. Also called the king of fruits, durian has a very powerful smell which puts off many people. But those who can overcome the smell are in for a huge surprise because it said a person who overcomes the smell and eats the fruit will never get bored of eating it over and over again.
