Natural barium sulphate (barytes)
Natural barium sulphate is used in the manufacturing industry as a component in paints, inks, and varnishes. It is also used in the production of paper, textiles, and plastics, as well as in oil drilling. A barium salt, combined with a sulfuric acid solution, is used to form a white barium sulfate precipitate.
