Cinnamon is the most important spice commodity among the spice sector. Pure cinnamon can only be found in Sri Lanka and is not to be confused with Cassia (also known as Chinese Cinnamon grown in China and parts of South East Asia which has faint cinnamon like properties).

Pure cinnamon is used for many purposes such as, medicine, spice, perfumery material & soft drink. In more recent times cinnamon is widely used in bakery products, pharmaceutical preparations & cosmetics worldwide. Cinnamon is considered to be a unique product exported from Sri Lanka.
