What is Carboxymethylcellulose sodium?
Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) or cellulose gum is a cellulose derivative with carboxymethyl groups (-CH2-COOH) bound to some of the hydroxyl groups of the glucopyranose monomers that make up the cellulose backbone. It is often used as its sodium salt, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose.
CMC is used in food under the E number E466 as a viscosity modifier or thickener, and to stabilize emulsions in various products including ice cream. It is also a constituent of many non-food products, such as toothpaste, laxatives, diet pills, water-based paints, detergents, textile sizing, and various paper products.
Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose, CMC, E466, CAS no. 9004-32-4, appears as a white to cream powder, and has a viscosity of approximately 5-12000 M.pas., 1% water solution, 25, Brookfield viscometer. CMC is a good emulsion stabilizer, thickener, and has excellent freeze, melt stability, can improve product flavor and prolong storage time. Carboxymethyl Cellulose can compound with other food thickeners (Xanthan gum, Guar gum, Sodium alginate, Gelatin, Carrageenan), and have synergistic effect with them.
As an experienced Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose manufacturer and supplier, we has been supplying and exporting Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose for almost 10 years, please be assured to buy from us. Description:
Chitin is a naturally occurring polysaccharide found in the shells of living organisms such as crabs, lobsters, tortoise, shrimps, and insects or it can be generated via fungal fermentation processes. And chitosan is a unique biobased polymer that is a derivative of chitin and forms the exoskeleton of arthropods. It is obtained by partial deacetylation of chitin using a chemical method or by enzymatic hydrolysis. In general, chitin with a degree of deacetylation of 70% or above is considered to be chitosan.
Application:
Chitin and its derivative chitosan are natural biopolymers which are extracted from crabs, prawns, and shrimps. Chitin consists of ²-(1,4)- linked 2-acetamido-2 deoxy-²-D-glucose which is insoluble in water and hydrophobic in nature.
Chitin is a natural biopolymer, which is biocompatible and biodegradable and useful in many applications like biomedical, electronics, photography, and textiles. The main advantages of chitin and its derivates are the low cost and easily availability. The chitin-based composites like chitin beads, chitin nanofibers, and chitin hydrogels are used in drug delivery and tissue engineering applications. In recent times, chitin and its derivates have gained much importance in the field of electronic applications as sensors and energy storage applications. Chitin nanofiber papers are being used as flexible green electronics in solar cells and organic light-emitting diodes. Aksoy et al. prepared low-cost chitin derivatives with high conductivity, for the construction of Schottky diodes, which are useful for photoelectrical applications. Schauer et al. reported a variation of the piezoelectric effect of the chitin electrospun nanofibers.
Chitosan 90% High Density is made from shrimp and crab shell; it is a biodegradable and biocompatible material that has several unique properties such as biodegradability, and biocompatibility. High-density chitosan has 2-3 times the density (â?¥0.6g/ml) of ordinary chitosan, and its ability to absorb grease is more than 3 times that of ordinary chitosan at the same volume. These properties make it suitable for various applications including biomedical, agricultural, and environmental. In the field of biomedical engineering, chitosan is used in wound healing, drug delivery, tissue engineering and as a coating for medical devices.
