A Large Diameter flange is a metal ring that is used to connect valves, pipes, pumps and other equipment that is necessary to form pipelines. The Large Diameter flange also allows people to have easy inspection, rapid modification, and easy and quick access to clean the pipes.

The ASME/ANSI B16.47 Large Diameter Steel Flanges include NPS 26 through NPS 60. This standard covers pressure ratings, temperature ratings, materials, dimensions, tolerances, marking and testing for flanges of this size with rating class designations 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500 and 2500.

The flanges are made in multiple ways. Some have lips, while others do not. Nearly every type of flange has a seal attached to it in order to preclude any type of leaks from the pipeline.

Highborn creates a significant volume of large diameter flanges for the biggest jobs in the energy and industrial fields. We can create a variety of large diameter sizes and configurations, using numerous suitable materials of construction for every application.

Asme B16.47 Flange

ASME B16.47 is an American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) standard that specifies the dimensions, materials, and tolerances for large diameter steel pipe flanges. The standard covers flanges with nominal pipe sizes (NPS) from 26 to 60 and pressure class ratings from 75 to 900.

ASME B16.47 flanges are divided into two series: Series A and Series B. Series A flanges are based on the MSS SP-44 standard, while Series B flanges are based on the API 605 standard. The main difference between the two series is that Series A flanges have a larger bolt circle diameter than Series B flanges.

ASME B16.47 flanges are typically used in high-pressure and high-temperature applications, such as in the oil and gas industry. They are also used in other industries, such as the chemical, power, and water treatment industries.

Here are some of the key features of ASME B16.47 flanges:
They are made of steel, cast iron, or stainless steel.
They have a raised or flat face.
They have a bolt circle diameter that ranges from 125 to 600 millimetres.
They have a pressure class rating that ranges from 75 to 900.
They have a thickness that ranges from 6.3 to 127 millimetres.

ASME B16.47 flanges are an important part of many piping systems. They help to ensure the safe and reliable operation of these systems.

A split flange is a type of flange that can be easily installed on pre-existing piping. It is made up of two interlocking pieces that fit securely together using nuts and bolts or welding it into place. Because it is made of two parts, split flanges are used to reinforce weakened areas of piping, or to add an attachment in places conventional flanges cannot.

Split-flange fittings use rubber O-rings to seal joints and contain pressurized fluid. The O-ring sits in a groove on the flange, and then mates with a port's flat surface. The flange is then attached to the port with four mounting bolts. The bolts tighten downward onto the clamps of the flange, thereby eliminating the need for large wrenches to connect the components of large-diameter tubing.

ANSI flanges facilitate the alignment of the bolt holes between the two mating flanges, a feature that is helpful in many circumstances, such as the installation of large diameter pipelines, subsea and offshore pipelines, pipe works in shallow waters and similar environments.

ANSI flanges suit oil, gas, hydrocarbons, water, chemical and other demanding fluids in petrochemical and water management applications.

In the case of a large diameter pipeline, for instance, the pipe is fitted, at one end, with a standard welding neck flange, and with a swivel flange at the other end: by simply rotating the swivel flange on the pipe, the operators can achieve a perfect alignment of the bolt holes in a way easier and faster way

A slip-on flange is connected to the pipe or the fittings by two fillet welds, one executed inside and one outside the cavity of the flange.

The bore size of a slip-on flange is larger than the outside diameter of the connecting pipe, as the pipe has to slide inside the flange to be connected by the execution of a fillet weld.

Slip-on flanges are also defined Hubbed Flanges and they are easy to recognize due to their slim and compact shape.

Screwed flange are often used for small diameter, high pressure requirements. Screwed flanges with a hub have published specifications that range from 1/2 thru 24. Pressure class: Class 150 to Class 2,500, PN 2.5 to PN 250 and Facing: RF / RTJ. Screwed flanges are threaded in the bore which match an external thread on the pipe. Screwed flanges are used with pipes that have external threads. The benefit of these flanges is that it can be attached without welding.
