It can directly be used without sealing layer, and the effect is good. But under the high pressure occasion, it will be easy to do damage to the surface of the flange.

Non-asbestos Gasket Good Alternative To Compressed Asbestos Gasket
Non-Asbestos Gasket is a general-purpose sheet material reinforced with high-grade asbestos-free fibers and bonded with heat-resistant nitrile rubber.
It has excellent anti-stick performance on both sides. It is a good alternative to compressed asbestos gasket.

ASBESTOS GASKET IDEAL INSULATING AND CORROSION RESISTANT MATERIAL
Asbestos Gasket is inexpensive, readily available and stable. It is fireproof and can withstand extreme heat making it the ideal thermal isolation material. As well, asbestos gaskets are non-corrosive, impervious to chemical reactions and non-conductive of electricity.
