A retort pouch is a sterilizable flexible bag that can withstand temperatures up.

Cost savings - no need for pre-blanching or pre-cooking, thus reducing manufacturing and processing time and costs, as well as energy and water use

Bulk waste is reduced and cleanup and disposal requires a fraction of the space and processing time of traditional jars, glass bottles or semi-rigid thermoformed containers.
