Brown fused alumina is fused and crystalized under high temparature from a mixture of bauxite and other raw materials.It is characterized by its high hardness, good toughness and sharp shape in size.Abrasives tools made of it are suitable for grinding metals of high-tensile strength such as:carbon steel, generalpurpose alloy steel, annled malleable cast iron and hard bronze , etc.It also can be used as refractory materials.
The electrically white fused aluminum oxide is produced from aluminum used as the raw material by high temperature melting in electrical arc furnace.The product comes up to the national standard gb 2479--83. The electrically white fused aluminum oxide, which possesses high pruity, good chemical stabillity and high refractoriness, is a basec raw material for manufacturing high grade fused aluminum oxide and mullite refractories, as well as for the abrasives and grinding industris.

White fused alumina is made with an electric furnace from high-grade alumina powder as raw material. The resulting mineral has higher hardness and slightly lower toughness than brown fused aluminum oxide.
