The wall thickness of heavy weight drill pipe is between drill pipe and drill collar. Its structure is similar with drill pipe. It is made from premium alloyed steel. Its both tool joints and middle upset are welded hardbands. Technical parameters meet with API Spec7-1 standard.

1.Made of 4145H alloy structural steel.
2.Production complies with the provisions under the Standard SY/T 5146-1997. Connector screws comply with the provisions of the Standard API SPEC 7-1.
3.The tube section has a larger diameter at mid length to protect the heavy weight drill pipe from wear.
4.Hardbanding and Internal Coating can be provided on customer request.

Heavy weight drill pipe is a type of drill pipe whose walls are thicker and collars are longer than conventional drill pipe.
Heavy weight drill pipe was developed as an intermediate weight drill string member. It was originally developed for three reasons:
1. As a transition member to be run between heavy weight drill pipe and drill collars.
2. As a flexible weight member to be run in directional drilling.
3. As a weight member on small rigs, drilling small diameter holes.
More recently, with the advent of horizontal drilling, it has found a new application being used in the curved portion of the hole below the drill collars.

Integral heavy weight drill pipes are manufactured from AISI 4142H-4145H modified drill collar material , thick-walled pipe called integral heavy weight drill pipe was developed to provid a gradual transition from the heavy weight drill collars to the relatively light weight drill pipe. This intermediate weight pipe has a wall thickness of approximately, and it helps prevent stress concentration at the� top of the drill collars. It also allows you to drill at higher pms, reducing torque and differential pressure sticking. It is intended primarily for directional drilling. Because it bends easily, it simplifies directional control and�  minimizes connection fatigue problems common to high angle or horizontal drilling. The reduced number of pipe failures and increased drill stem service also make it appropriate for some straight hole applications.

This kind of product is made of aisi4145h alloy steel, mainly used between dill collar and dill pipe to ease transition stress concentration between dill collar and drill pipe and reduce the rate between contact area and outer wall wear. To avoid the wear and tear of dill pipe we add each 101m wide belt wear at the top and bottom of follow-welded joint and review 76m wide belt wear on the thickening of the central part of the governing body. To extend its life cycle we can also paint dpc spraying anti-corrosion coatings in the dill pipe wall.
