Corner Cube Retroreflectors


Corner Cube Prism is also called Retroreflector or Trihedral Prism. In the Corner Cube Prism, three reflecting surfaces are perpendicular to each other, like the side wall of the cube. The input surface is perpendicular to the cube diagonal. Disregarding the angle of incidence, the output beam is parallel to the input one, but it is of opposite direction. Inset of the several corner prisms, for better matching, their entrance-exit surface is often hexagonal. In case of this prism the phenomenon of full internal reflection occurs so it is not necessary, (however it is possible) to put mirror coating on the reflecting faces. Normally the reflection surfaces are Al reflection coating, and then covered with Cu and Black Painting.

Roof Prism
A roof prism is a reflective optical prism to make two cross beams be parallel with each other. It contains a section where two faces meet at a 90 angle. These two 90 faces resemble the roof of a building, giving this prism type its name. Reflection from the two 90�° faces returns an image that is flipped laterally across the axis where the faces meet.
In some cases, passing through the prism, the image is both deflected right-to-left and top-to-bottom. The hypotenuse of the prism utilizes total internal reflection (TIR) to reflect the image through the prism. Polarization states may become rotated during reflection.

Dove Prism

Photonchina has been focusing on dove prism manufacture for more than decades in order to meet demands of customers worldwide in applications ranging from image displaying to fiber communications.
Dove prism is a type of reflective prism which is used to invert an image. These prisms are shaped from a truncated right-angle prism. A beam of light entering one of the sloped faces of the prism undergoes total internal reflection from the inside of the longest (bottom) face and emerges from the opposite sloped face. Images passing through the prism are flipped, and because only one reflection takes place, the image's handedness is changed to the opposite sense.
If you look through the prism and rotate it around a longitudinal axis, the image rotates through twice the angle through which the dove prism itself rotates. For optimal performance, you may use dove prisms with collimated light. The top surface of each dove prism is ground and the longest length features an unbeveled sharp edge.
Dove Prisms are offered uncoated, with anti-reflection coated diagonal faces, or with aluminized diagonal faces. Aluminized dove prisms feature a protected aluminum coating with black Krylon paint on the diagonal faces and are ideal for displaced retroreflection. They provide a u-turn for incident laser beam light.
