What Is The Motor Thermal Protector
Motor thermal protector is a bimetallic superheat protector, is the thermal protection device for the normal operation of the motor. In Ya Xun, to provide a full range of motor thermal protection, such as: DC, single-phase, three-phase, low-voltage motor, high-voltage motor.
There are many reasons for motor overheating, such as running overload, selection is not appropriate, cooling failure, lack of monitoring and necessary maintenance leading to premature aging of insulation.
The motor in the run-time will produce losses, these losses on the one hand to reduce the efficiency of the motor, on the other hand the loss turns into a motor heating, so that the motor winding temperature increases.
The life of the winding insulation material is related to its operating temperature. The temperature is too high, the insulation material will accelerate aging, so that a significant reduction in insulation performance, significantly shorten the life of the motor, even the risk of fire and electric shock hazard. Therefore, the purpose of motor overheating protection, mainly in the design, manufacture, installation and use of motor protection measures, when the motor is operating under certain load and heat dissipation conditions, the temperature of the winding does not exceed the allowable value of the standard.

Design Principles
Temperature protection:
When ambient temperature exceeds the specified value, the inside bimetal of 8AME series will trip off to cut the circuit. when the temperature lowers down, the bimetal will reset and the circuit is connected again.
Current Protection:
Auxiliary heater works together with bimetal, which can control the trip off time precisely. when the current exceeds the prescribed value, 8AME will cut the circuit immediately.

17AM-X series thermal protector (Thermostat) is a current sensitive and temperature automatic responsedevice.It is connected in series to the winding of motor. The protector changes with the temperature of winding and current of a motor. When the heat generated by the increasing temperature and current from the protected appliances transmits to bimetal disc and reaching the temperature value of scheduled movement,the bimetal disc will trip immediately So that the contact will be switched offand the circuit will be cut off. When the temperature of motor winding decreases to the rated temperature value of reposition, bimetal disc will return to its initial state, the moving contact will beclosed and the circuit will be on. 17AM-X series thermal protector has advantages of trip current sensitively and control temperature precisely.
