Tapioca chips are a popular product used in the animal feed, alcohol and ethanol industries. Currently, Thailand exports more than 6 million tons of tapioca chips per year. The production process involves cleaning fresh tapioca and cutting it into pieces before drying it in the sun on a cement floor for about 2-3 days until completely dry.
Tapioca chips for export generally contain at least 65% starch, no more than 5% fiber, no more than 14% moisture and no more than 3% sand.
