The Lead Acid Storage Battery is a series of lead plates coated with lead dioxide. The battery contains a mixture of the battery electrolyte solution, and water.
When the battery is discharged, the acid reacts with lead dioxide to produce electricity. When charging the battery, electricity is used to reverse the chemical reaction, thereby moving the sulfate ions back into the acidic solution.
