Botanical name: indigofera tinctoria
Indigo is natural dye used since ancient times to produce beautiful blues that range from sky blue to deep, almost black blue. Frequently, people are nervous about dyeing with indigo. It is a tricky dye to work with, mostly because it is not water soluble.
To solve this problem, we extracted the main colouring component from the leaves of indigofera tinctoria plant by using biological and eco- friendly methods. The main main colouring component of indigo blue is indigotin.
Indigo is a dark blue crystalline powder and is not soluble in either water or alcohol. First we make it soluble in an alkaline vat where oxygen has been removed either by fermentation process.
Natural indigo really is better - it can create a deeper blue, and, since it is not water soluble, you can wash natural indigo over and over without any color loss.
No mordant is required when you dye with indigo.
Natural indigo is a sustainable dye; after the pigment has been extracted the plant residue can be composted and used as a fertilizer and the water reused to irrigate crops.

Our company has achieved widespread recognition in offering Natural Indigo Fabric Dye. We produce eco-friendly Natural Indigo Fabric Dye, by extracting it from the plant Indigofera Tinctoria". We have mastered this ancient famed craft.

The process of manufacturing indigo fabric dyes includes the following steps:

The fully grown plant is cut and soaked in tanks of length 14ft and breadth 14ft depth 2 feet.

After 18 hours of soaking, the green color of the leaves comes out of the leaves and lies mixed with water. This leaves-extract along with the water is led into another tank of similar dimensions and oxidized by agitating the green water by kicking with the legs.

This manual process continues for about 1 hour to one and a half hour, By then, the green leaf extract turns blue in color and thickens noticeably. This thick Gravy is transferred into a copper vessel and boiled at a high temperature for one hour. then it is poured into molds.

Indigo carmine, or 5,5-indigodisulfonic acid sodium salt, is an organic salt derived from indigo by aromatic sulfonation, which renders the compound soluble in water. It is approved for use as a food colorant in the U.S and E.U. It has the E number E132. It is also a pH indicator.
Indigo carmine in a 0.2% aqueous solution is blue at pH 11.4 and yellow at 13.0. Indigo carmine is also a redox indicator, turning yellow upon reduction. Another use is as a dissolved ozone indicator through the conversion to isatin-5-sulfonic acid. This reaction has been shown not to be specific to ozone, however: it also detects superoxide, an important distinction in cell physiology. It is also used as a dye in the manufacturing of capsules.
