Properties: white to off-white powder, not easily soluble in water
Uses: It is a special antibiotic for livestock and poultry semi-synthesized by a hydrolysate of tylosin. Its phosphate is inhibited by Gram-positive bacteria, certain Gram-negative bacteria, Mycoplasma, and spirochetes. Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and Pasteurella have stronger antibacterial activity than tylosin.
