2. Borax pentahydrate is generally written as Na2B4O7�?�¢?�?�¢5H2O. Powdered borax is white, consisting of soft colorless crystals that dissolve in water.

lost at 350-400C. Soluble in water and glycerol, slightly soluble in alcohol. The aqueous solution is strongly alkaline.
