Our peanut oil is obtained from dry kernel of the groundnut by Chekku/ Kani ( wooden expeller made from special herbal tree called "Nattu Vaagai" using cold pressed natural means without the application of heat, thereby retaining the nature of the oil. It does not undergo any chemical refining, bleaching or deodorising.

The groundnut or peanut is one of the important legume crops of tropical and semiarid tropical countries, where it provides a major source of edible oil and vegetable protein. Groundnut Kernel contains 47-53% oil and 25-36% protein. India is the major groundnut producing countries. There are two most common names used for this crop i.e. groundnut or peanut. The term groundnut is used in most countries of Asia, Africa, Europe and Australia, while in north and South America it is commonly referred to as peanut. Groundnut are used in various forms, which include groundnut oil, roasted and salted groundnut, boiled or raw groundnut or as a paste popularly known as groundnut or peanut butter. Groundnut oil is the most important product of the crop, which is used for both domestic and industrial purposes. About 75% of the world groundnut production is used in extraction of edible oil.
The 2 major varieties of Peanuts produced in India are Bold (runners) and Java (Spanish). The Bold variety peanuts have typically reddish brown skin with oblong shape, while Java variety have pink skin with spherical in shape.

India is the second largest producer of peanuts in the world. Groundnut oil contributes to 25 per cent oil seed production in India. Currently the annual yield of Indian peanuts is 5-8 million tons and that of peanut oil is approximately 1.5 million tons.
India trades around 0.1 million ton of peanuts annually. Small quantity of peanuts gives an individual a boost of healthy fats, protein, fiber, micronutrients and bioactive components. Peanuts also comprise of optimum level of vitamin A, vitamin E, folate, magnesium, zinc, iron, calcium, and dietary fiber. Phytosterols present in peanuts are known to reduce cholesterol and are cancer-preventative. Flavonoids found in peanuts reduce inflammation.
