Safety:
Corrosive to the skin and eyes, ingestion may cause severe gastric disturbances, inhalation of vapors may irritate the respiratory tract

Storage and handling:
Formic acid has an almost unlimited shelf-life in unopened, original containers if protected from heat and stored in a protected storage area. It is neither explosive nor spontaneously flammable. However it is flammable and corrosive.
